Owensboro Residents Already Camping Out at New 54 Hobby Lobby

Hobby Lobby opens at its new location in Gateway Commons tomorrow morning and some residents are really excited about the move. Several people have gone as far as camping at the new location to ensure they’ll be one of the first to shop at the new store.

Enduring Owensboro found Daviess County resident Ben Nittenstough around noon today out in his car waiting for the new store to open. Nittenstough said, “I’ve lived just off 54 my whole life and happy to have this store move nearby. I’m just so afraid of all of that traffic on Frederica, it’s dangerous!”

We asked Nittenstough if he planned to score any big deals and he said, “Oh yeah, they’ve got yarn for about $4 here and at the old store it was much higher…like 3 for $12 or something.”

The store’s move may have been motivated by advice from commercial development consultant, Pat Star, who suggested, “We should take the stuff from Frederica and push it somewhere else.”
