Tornado Sirens Have Been Reconfigured to Blast “Total Eclipse of the Heart” on Monday

After losing a bid to get Bonnie Tyler to Owensboro for the eclipse, local representatives have a backup plan.

All tornado sirens in Daviess County have been reconfigured to blast the 1983 smash hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” throughout the county.

Daviess County Disaster Coordinator, Drew Sphere said, “Fortunately the county is equipped with some remarkable Whelen Vortex storm sirens. Those bad boys can do more than just remind you the weekend is near every Friday at Noon.”

Reconfiguring the sirens only takes a few minutes and won’t require any additional labor costs, however, the song must be licensed under a “single performance agreement” which should work out to be less than $14 per resident.

  1. While I am a music fan, this $14/ resident could go a long way in More relevant and needed endeavors- like feeding/ housing our hungry/ homeless. Please quit wasting tax dollars on such trivial items.
